NARFEs National Headquarters has acquired a new communications application for its Global Electronic Messaging System (GEMS). GEMS is used to distribute Legislative Hotlines, Legislative Alerts, health and benefits news, and other time-sensitive material to NARFE members via e-mail. Members can join GEMS by visiting
www.narfe.org*.
Interactive Systems Inc. (ISI), the contractor that maintains the Associations database, will continue to handle the delivery of GEMS electronic communications. Messages are delivered through the companys mail server
Listserv@isiservices.com to members. Messages carry the
gems@narfe.org e-mail address.
To improve communication between NARFE Headquarters and NARFE members and to insure prompt delivery of GEMS messages, it is
vital that NARFE members:
- Add gems@narfe.org to their address book
- Add listserver@isiservice.com as an approved server or domain in their spam-blocking options.
Completing these tasks will allow messages to be delivered directly to NARFE members e-mail mailboxes. This will also prevent the mail server from being blocked by Internet service providers (ISPs) such as AOL, Verizon, MSN, Yahoo and Comcast.
ISPs may follow different procedures. The following are links to the support pages of the ISPs listed above.
